Real Talk Series: Commencement Info Session for Parents and Families

Session Overview:
As your student approaches graduation, you may have questions about what to expect and how to prepare. This Real Talk Series session is designed to guide families through the entire commencement process for the May 2026 ceremonies.

Led by Michele Martin, Assistant to the Associate Vice President of Student Development, this session will cover everything from applying to graduate and ordering regalia to understanding ceremony logistics, ticketing, accommodations, and end-of-year celebrations. Whether your student is graduating with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree, this session will help you feel confident and informed.

Topics will include:

  • The difference between graduation and commencement
  • Key deadlines for applying to graduate and RSVP for the ceremony
  • Regalia ordering and Latin Honors recognition
  • Ceremony details for undergraduate and graduate students
  • Ticketing policies and guest accommodations
  • What graduates and guests should bring on the day of
  • Parking, senior portraits, and graduation fees
  • Final steps for closing out the academic journey (financial aid, transcripts, etc.)
